Half way there for the Half!
Organisers of the 2010 SIG Insulations Sheffield Half Marathon have announced that the race is half way to hitting its target of 5,500 runners – at the earliest point to date.
Sheffield’s sporting spectacular has already attracted 2,750 runners, with more than three months still to go until race day.
The race has reached the milestone figure way ahead of the 2009 event, with numbers up by 840 from the same time last year.
Ian Thomas, entries coordinator for the Sheffield Half Marathon, said: “It is fantastic to see entries coming in thick and fast and it seems we are on track to reach entry limit well before race day for the second year in a row.
“People often wait until just before the race to sign up, but to avoid disappointment we encourage people to enter sooner rather than later so they don’t miss out! The race is becoming increasingly popular year after year and people are keener than ever to raise funds for some fantastic local causes.”
The SIG Insulations Sheffield Half Marathon and 3k Fun Run will take place on 25 April 2010 at Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed facility Don Valley Stadium from 9:30am.
The 10 chosen charities for this year’s event are Sheffield Teenage Cancer Trust, Motor Neurone Disease Association South Yorkshire, Macmillan Cancer Support, Myasthenia Gravis Association, RSPCA Sheffield, Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre South Yorkshire, Sheffield Wildlife Trust, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
