Sheffield rounds up top boxers at Don Valley

Sheffield rounds up top boxers at Don Valley.

Some of the regions top boxers are getting squared up and ready to fight for the British masters light heavyweight title taking place at Don Valley Stadium.

The Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed facility will see headliners Sheffield’s Carl Wild and Michael Bambula, originally from Poland, fight ten rounds for the title on Sunday March 21 at the event, organised by former lightweight boxer Glyn Rhodes.

Also appearing at the stadium will be amateur local boxers Ross Burkinshaw, Dave Howe, Lee Edwards, Monsul Wali and Eddie Meskry, who all train with Glyn at The Sheffield Boxing Centre in Hillsborough which he runs.

Glyn said: “The boxing talent in Sheffield at the moment is unbelievable but there are very few decent boxing venues in the city. Don Valley is one of the best which is why we put on five shows a year at the venue and always choose to return.”

Glyn, who has fought all over Europe, currently runs Glyn Rhodes Promotions and has been running his boxing centre in Hillsborough for 13 years.

Pat Smith, general manager at Don Valley Stadium said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming some of the best local boxing talent to our venue for a fight night packed full of truly great boxing.”

Doors open at 1pm with first bat at 2pm. Tickets are £30 for general admission and £60 for ringside. For more information or to book tickets call 0114 223 3600 or visit http://www.donvalleystadium.co.uk
