Sport and fitness sessions for £1 will be on offer across Sheffield as part of a new campaign ahead of the start of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Swimming, tennis, squash and football will be just £1 on Friday July, 27, the day of the Olympic opening ceremony, and Wednesday, August 29, when the Paralympic Games start.
The Let the Games Begin campaign, which is being run by Sheffield International Venues (SIV), will also offer fitness classes, gym sessions, and access to athletics tracks and court hire for the same reduced price.
SIV operates 19 facilities including Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Hillsborough Leisure Centre, Don Valley Stadium, the English Institute of Sport Sheffield, Concord Sports Centre, Stocksbridge Leisure Centre, Springs Leisure Centre, Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre, Heeley Swimming Pool and Westfield Sports Centre.
Lorenzo Clark, Director of Operations for SIV, said: “Let the Games Begin is about making sure everyone can be a part of it and bringing the spirit of the Olympics to our world-class sporting venues in Sheffield.
“We ran a similar campaign to celebrate the torch relay coming to the city and it was a big success. Making sport and fitness affordable to all is an important way of attracting new people to take part. We hope this campaign inspires even more people to give sport and fitness activities a go as part of our commitment to the legacy of the Games.”
