| Don Valley cooks up healthy eating initiative |
Leading Sheffield leisure venue Don Valley Stadium has teamed up with a local food outlet for a new healthy eating scheme.
The Sheffield International Venues (SIV) facility has joined forces with Masterchef, in Attercliffe, to launch the initiative, which is designed to highlight the importance of a balanced diet.
Masterchef will be preparing a Don Valley healthy baguette of the day and presenting them to customers in specially designed bags featuring healthy living and exercise tips.
Customers will also have the opportunity to win up to 500 one day passes, six monthly memberships and one year long membership at Don Valley Stadium by taking part in the initiative.
The venue’s fitness suite is set to be fully refurbished in December and will include the very latest Technogym fitness equipment and an advanced training area, plus a new contemporary gym environment, flat screen televisions and a coffee room.
Hayley Töews, Don Valley Stadium’s Fitness Manager, said: “We are always looking for new ways to promote the importance of healthy living to our members and people living in the local community.
“The Masterchef initiative is a great way to encourage people to adopt a balanced diet, including the right amounts and combinations of key food groups, to make a contribution towards a healthy lifestyle.”
Pat Holdsworth, from Masterchef, said: “We are delighted to link up with Don Valley for this fantastic new healthy eating scheme. Our ethos centres around preparing healthy, home made food so it is fitting that we should team up with the stadium for this scheme, which will encourage people to establish good habits and healthy routines.”
