| BritBowl XXI to touch down at Don Valley |
The BAFL’s championship finals will be touching down in Sheffield this weekend for a spectacular weekend of American Football and entertainment.
Over the course of Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September the championship finals of BAFL 1, BAFL 2 and Youth Championship will take place at the city’s Don Valley Stadium, culminating in the BAFL Premier Championship game.
It is the eighth consecutive year that the BritBowl has been hosted at the Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed stadium.
As well as the Championship games, there will also be pre-finals entertainment including firework shows, a Blues Brothers tribute band, cheerleaders and post-match celebratory pyrotechnic displays.
Ken Walters, BAFL Media and Marketing Director said: “The BritBowl is the premier grass-roots sports event in the country – there is nothing bigger. It is the star event of the season, at the home of British American Football – Don Valley Stadium.
“This event goes a long way to heighten the profile of American football in this country. To have the games, once again, hosted at a national stadium is tremendous, and means a lot of all the players.”
Guy Naylor from Don Valley Stadium said: “BritBowl is one of the biggest events we host each year. NFL Europe has invested in us holding the event, and having BritBowl for the last seven years is a major boost. We’re currently in negotiations to host the finals for a further five years.
“It will be a fantastic weekend of entertainment with cheerleaders, fireworks, music and the four Championship games being played. We expect over 4,000 spectators to turn out at Don Valley for the occasion.”
